History of Central Baptist Church

On April 17, 1954, a group of people met at the home of Mr. & Mrs. W.M. Rushing to discuss the formation of a Southern Baptist Church. The group united with Park Hill Baptist Church of Denver to become a mission of the church.

The first regular church service was held at the Rushing residence on April 25, 1945, with 42 people present. On November 17, 1957, the church voted to purchase the present property.

Pastor Hylon Vickers served CBC from 1954-1957.

Dr. Ralph Quisenberry served CBC from 1957-1960.

Pastor Charles Broadhurst served CBC from 1961-1963.

Pastor Clyde White served CBC from 1963-1967.

Pastor Carey Miller served CBC from 1967-1977.

Pastor Murray Boyd served CBC from 1978-1984.

Pastor Mike Wilson served CBC from 1985-1988.

Dr. Jerry Johnson served CBC from 1986-1997.

Dr. Ergun Caner served CBC from 1997-2001.

Pastor Don Garner served CBC from 2001-2006.

Dr. Ben Skaug served CBC from 2007-2011.

Pastor Luke Baker is currently serving CBC since 2012.
